Course Description

ISO 45001 is the first global Occupational Health and Safety Management System standard that replaces OHSAS 18001. The ISO 45001 Lead Implementer training enables you to develop the necessary expertise to support an organization in establishing, implementing, managing and maintaining an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) based on ISO 45001. During this training course, you will also gain a thorough understanding of the best practices of an OHSMS and be able to apply them to continually improve the organization's OH&S performance and ensure the well-being of employees by providing a safe and healthy workplace.

After mastering all the necessary concepts of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, you can sit for the exam
and apply for a "PECB Certified ISO 45001 Lead Implementer" credential. By holding a PECB Lead Implementer Certificate,
you will be able to demonstrate that you have the practical skills and professional knowledge to implement ISO 45001 in an

Delivery and duration

Day 1: Introduction to ISO 45001 and initiation of an OH&S Management System

Day 3: Implementation of an OH&S Management System

  • Awareness and communication

Day 4: OH&S Management System monitoring, continuous improvement and preparation for a certification audit

  • Monitoring, measurement, analysis and performance evaluation
  • Internal audit
  • Management review
  • Treatment of nonconformities and incidents
  • Continual improvement
  • Preparing for the certification audit
  • Certification process and closing the training

Day 5: Certification Exam

  • Duration: 3 hours

Examination and Certification

The "Certified ISO 45001 Lead Implementer" exam fully meets the requirements of the Examination and Certification Program (ECP). The exam covers the following competence domains:

  • Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Domain 2: Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS)
  • Domain 3: Planning an OHSMS implementation based on ISO 45001
  • Domain 4: Implementing an OHSMS based on ISO 45001
  • Domain 5: Performance evaluation, monitoring and measurement of an OHSMS based on ISO 45001
  • Domain 6: Continual improvement of an OHSMS based on ISO 45001
  • Domain 7: Preparing for an OHSMS certification audit

The "Certified ISO 45001 Lead Implementer" exam is available in different languages.

After successfully completing the exam, participants can apply for the credentials of Certified ISO 45001 Provisional Implementer, Certified ISO 45001 Implementer or Certified ISO 45001 Lead Implementer, depending on their level of experience.

A certificate will be issued to participants who successfully passed the exam and comply with all the other requirements related to the selected credential.
